Student organizations provide a way for students to develop and refine leadership skills and to interact and network with their peers and with faculty and staff.
Throughout the year, organizations sponsor a variety of activities and participate in service projects around the community.
So What's the Point?
The points are numerous for students enrolled in Rolla Technical Institute/Center.
Students have the opportunity to enhance their education by joining the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) of their choice. RTI/C's CTSOs include:
- DECA--Association of Marketing Students
- FCCLA--Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
- FFA--formerly Future Farmers of America
- HOSA--Future Health Professionals
- SkillsUSA—formerly Vocational Industrial Clubs of America
- TSA—Missouri Technology Student Organization
All of the CTSOs have the same purpose: to enhance the co-curricular education of students enrolled in technical, skilled, and service occupations. These CTSOs help develop leadership characteristics, self-confidence, self-acceptance, occupational competencies, awareness of career opportunities, proficiency in communication, a competitive spirit, and character development. These organizations emphasize total quality at work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of hard work. They also promote involvement in community service activities.
Each of the CTSOs have a program of activities that will be completed by the student members and their advisors during the school year. Students who become active members in a CTSO will have the opportunity to take part in competitions at the district, state, and international levels. In addition to the opportunity to win awards, competitions also give students a chance to travel and to make numerous contacts that could prove to be helpful in their future careers.
So what's the point?
