Starting in the Fall of 2023, RTI/C will add a new Career and Technical Student Organization
(CTSO) to the ranks! Early Childhood Careers, Intro To Service Careers, and Culinary Arts
have chartered the RTI/C chapter of Family, Community and Career Leaders of America
(FCCLA).
FCCLA is a student-led organization with leadership development as a primary focus. All
FCCLA members have the opportunity to become leaders within the organization. The skills
gained, connections formed, and opportunities experienced through serving as an officer in
FCCLA will elevate students as they take the lead in families, careers, and communities of today
and tomorrow. Students will be offered opportunities to participate in programs, contests,
scholarships, and opportunities for members to develop real world skills, become college- and
career-ready, and make a difference in families, careers, and communities.
Every year, FCCLA hosts conferences that bring together FCCLA members, advisers, and
supporters from across the nation to learn, compete, and network. FCCLA’s conferences offer
enriching experiences that provide attendees with the opportunity to hear from motivational
speakers, attend rewarding workshops, connect with youth leaders, and develop skills for life.
Our chapter’s first opportunities to attend conferences will be in October and November of 2023.
We also have many students already working on Star Events (Students Taking Action with
Recognition) that are Competitive Events in which members compete at the regional/district,
state, and national levels. Students are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter
and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR Events allow students to
compete individually or as a team. There are more than 30 STAR Events students can choose to
compete in, all of which recognize participants who demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and
abilities to actively identify an issue concerning families, careers, or communities, research the
topic, and develop and implement a project to advocate for positive change.
Advisors for the RTI/C FCCLA chapter are Mrs. Ruth Diaz, Chef Carmel Dare, Mrs. Delayne
Lancaster and Dr. Karen Lambeth.
