The purpose of the Nurse Assistant Training Program is to prepare individuals for employment in a Long Term Care facility. The program is designed to teach skills in resident care which will qualify students to perform uncomplicated nursing procedures and to assist licensed practical nurses in direct resident care.

This program consists of 75 classroom hours of training on basic nursing skills, fire safety and disaster training, resident safety and rights, social and psychological problems of residents, and the methods of handling and caring for mentally confused residents. Also 100 hours of supervised on-the-job training (clinical practice).

If you are interested in the CNA class call 573-458-0150 to get additional information regarding the next available class date to enroll. This is a nine and a half week course. CNA class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4PM to 8PM. The family Care Safety Registry form is mandatory. The student must pass three written tests with a score of 80% or better, complete 75 hours of classroom time, 100 hours on-the-job training, complete all paperwork and turn in to instructor. After completion, a written state exam is given and a practical exam is completed at the nursing home facility in order to become certified.
